Por los registros yo juraría que el probelma se produce cuando stuffit intenta ver si hay versiones más recienets, por eso dije lo de desconectar la máquina de Internet para ver si sigue cascando el módulo de verificación de versión.

Ahora que te funciona, vete a preferencias de Stuffit (de la aplicación) y desactiva la verificación de versión.
Y dinos algo.
