El asunto es como sigue:
La actualización a Tiger me ha supuesto entre otras cosas (que yo sepa) que el driver del escaner epson no funcione y tampoco pueda escanear con la captura de imagen. Bien.
Al intentar tirar toda la aplicación hay una parte (epson scanner monitor) que no se deja. Dice que está abierto y no se puede tirar y lo curioso es que a través del monitor de actividad veo que siempre está abierto y consume recuursos.
Supongo que tendré que liquidarlo a través de terminal, por línea de comandos.
¿Algún caritativo macclubero me puede decir cómo tirarlo en lenguaje sencillo y completo (temo los comandos esos).

No sé de ningún proceso en unix que si no hace nada, consuma algo...
Por otra aprte ews curios el tema del escanner.
Yo controlo varios macs, incuído mi G5 dual personal, con escáners Epson desde los baratos Lide hastas los más completos y ni uno me ha dejado de funcionar al pasar a Tiger

Hola maestro.
El escaner es un Perfection 3200 Photo y simplemente no funciona. Los drivers eran los mismos que empleé con el Panther 10.3.9 sin problemas y el G5 es nuevo y al instalarlo utilicé la opción de traspasa todo el contenido del viejo, con lo que algunas cosas(aplicaciones y alguna cosa más que no recuerdo) hubo que retocarlas. vaya que la transición no es perfecta al 100%.
Los recursos que consumen oscilan entre el 1 y 2,5% de CPU.
También han dejado de funcionar los drivers de Nikonscan 4.0.2, el FTP de Golive 6.0, que yo sepa. y curiosamente no me deja emplear la captura e imagen aunque el escaner parece verlo.

Si, cuando se hace una instalación desde cero manteniendo usuarios y conexiones, que es lo que se debería de hacer siempre (tengo experimentados no menos de 20 fallos cometidos por Mac Os X cuando actualiza dejando ficheros viejos que deberían ser actualizados), a veces se pierden cosas de otros instaladores que meten cosas donde no debieran, podría ser caso de los drivers de los escáners Perfection. Como te he dicho, con otros modelos de Epson he comprobado que funciona... y curiosamente no debiera según tu experiencia ya que creo que Epson usa los mismos drivers y programas para toda su gama y, según el escáner detectado hace unas u otras cosas
No entiendo a qué es debido que el escáner monitor esté activo con hasta un 2,5% de CPU, muy extraño...
¿Has probado a instalar todo el software nuevamente?
Oye... precisamente esta tarde he estado usando el FTP de Golive en mi Tiger 10.4.2 (y días atrás con 10.4.1) sin que haya el más mínimo problema...
¿No tendrás incorrectamente cofigurada la opción de FTP pasivo y tu estás intentando acceder desde un router que hace de firewall?

Con respecto a los drivers de epson la verdad es que los he reinstalado un par de veces y nada. No sé si el que haya un epson monitor actuando podría incordiar. El caso es que va sin resultados positivos. y aún me extraña más que no funcione con captura de imagen.
Con respecto a Golive 6.0 cuyo explorador de ftp se quedaba rato y rato buscando sin resultados, el caso es que al instalar el Golive Cs1 7.0 actualizado a 7.0.2 funciona estupendamente y yo no he tocado ni ftp pasivo ni nada.Y es la misma máquina. De hecho la red es una intranet (Red Iris) del trabajo y no hay router.
de todas formas me gustaría saber cómo aniquilar al epson monitor y probar luego.

Has probado con GOMA-2 o tal vez sería más efectiva una intoxicación etílica. Los monitores de epson son muy sensibles a estas cuestiones.

Para eliminar la porquería esa de epson scanner monitor he abierto monitor de actividad. Lo he seleccionado con el correspondiente click.
Luego he seleccionado en el menú de monitor de actividad el botón rojo "salir del proceso". Y una vez el proceso cerrado lo he tirado (despeñado) de la carpeta de aplicaciones.
Fin.
No era muy complicado después de todo.
